Our Staff 


At Glenore Grove SS we have a highly skilled staff of educations that are a cohesive team who put student needs as their priority.  Staff are approachable and help to create the welcoming culture at our school.   

 

Renee Heathwood-Brunskill - Principal 

Renee has been principal at the school since the end of 2014.  She has worked for the Education Department since 1998 and previously has filled the roles of Deputy Principal, Literacy Coach, Reading Recovery Teacher and Classroom Teacher.  She has a passion for Literacy, Explicit Instruction and ensuring students are ready to be successful citizens of the world.  Her vision for the school is for it to be a place that students and staff love to be, are proud of and that help them to achieve their goals. 

 

Jordanna McDougall- Head of Department - Curriculum  

Jordanna started her teaching career in 2008. She started teaching as a P.E teacher, moving into general classroom teaching and Special Education. Jordanna started at GGSS in 2015 as the Special Education Teacher and then moved back into the classroom. In 2020 she moved into the role of Head of Department Curriculum. Jordanna loves to celebrate successes of students, big and small, and enjoys working with families to make these goals a reality. 

 

Classroom Teachers 

 

Kylie Bridge – Experienced Senior Teacher 

Kylie has been at the school since 2012. She has worked for the department since 1995 and has taught all year levels from Prep to year 7. Kylie enjoys teaching the middle and upper grades and organising camps and events. Her passion is teaching maths and science, especially when she can foster the same passion in her students. Kylie is proud of the school and how it has become a place where students love to come to learn and parents feel comfortable and welcomed.

 

Rose Cubis – Experienced Senior Teacher 

Rose has been at Glenore Grove since 2011, she has taught in a range of year levels during her time here. Rose is originally from New Zealand and has been in the teaching profession for approximately 25 years. Rose is enthusiastic about PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) and enjoys creating a positive and welcoming classroom environment that all students enjoy being part of. She enjoys positive relationships with her students and her parents and the wider school community and believes that all children have the ability to learn and develop into responsible and respectful members of society and she loves being able to be part of this development.

  

Karen Allison – Experienced Senior teacher 

Karen arrived at our school in 2021 but has been teaching in the Lockyer Valley since 2004. She has taught in the classroom since 1996, across a variety of year levels in schools in Queensland, England and Scotland.  Karen enjoys teaching in the early years, relishing the wonder in, and enthusiasm for, learning in young students.   She is passionate about introducing students to books across all areas of the curriculum and developing students’ love of reading for pleasure. 

 

Laura Cooper – Classroom Teacher  

Laura came to the school at the beginning of 2018 after graduating from the University of Southern Queensland in 2017. With a pedagogical framework that is continuously growing and developing, she places students, their needs and interests at the core and is proficient at tailoring learning to incorporate students’ diverse interests, capturing their attention and imagination. As a teacher she aims to play a significant role in helping students to meet their fullest potential within a safe and supportive learning environment where they can grow and develop. 


Bernice McGregor - District Relieving Teacher

Berncie has been teaching for about 30 years. Teaching mainly in the middle to upper primary year levels throughout Queensland. With an interest in Aboriginal Education that allows children the opportunity to learn about the histories and cultures of the First Nation’s people and it allows our students to develop respect for diversity and understanding of cultural differences. Bernice a culturally competent teacher who  sets high expectations for learning that incorporates First Nation’s perspectives across the whole school. She enjoys being a positive First Nation’s role model for all children in particular all First Nation’s children. Bernice is a District Relief Teacher (DRT). Based here at GGSS, she works across multiple schools within this region to cover unexpected and/or planned short term absences. 


Sharnee Stephan - Classroom Teacher

Sharnee has been a classroom teacher at Glenore Grove State School since 2021. Sharnee believes all children are unique. Each student brings something special to their own education and as a teacher, her role is to provide an inclusive environment that embraces the difference of all students, through providing a range of teaching adjustments and pedagogies to match individual needs. As a part of the school's Positive Behaviour for Learning team, she sets clear expectations and provides positive feedback for her students that will enable the growth of emotional, social, behavioural, and academic outcomes for all students.  


Lisa McLean  - Classroom Teacher

Lisa started at Glenore Grove as a classroom teacher in 2021. She has fulfilled many different roles in the education department in various sectors, including kindergarten. Her passion is working in the early years with a focus on play -based learning. Lisa is currently furthering her studies in the area of 'Learning Difficulties in Reading and Differentiation within the classroom'.


Jodi Stafford – Experienced Senior Teacher
Jodi joined the Glenore Grove team in 2022. She began her teaching career on the Gold Coast in late 2003 and has taught students from Year 1 to Year 6 in various locations across Queensland. Jodi moved to the Lockyer Valley in 2013 and taught for several years before accepting an opportunity to work abroad in an Australian International School for 3 years. She has a strong interest in curriculum and strives to create teaching and learning experiences that best meet the needs of the students in her class. She believes the key to student success begins and ends with relationships and knows that students achieve best when parents, students, and teachers all work together.


Hayley Freemantle – Experienced Senior Teacher

Hayley has been a teacher at Glenore Grove since the end of 2015. She has worked in Education since 1995, where she qualified as a teacher in South Africa. Hayley has filled many teaching roles both in High and Primary school and these include classroom teaching, specialist teaching (Technology), tutelage, volunteer education (Greece), National Geography competition writing and now working in a Diverse Learning space at Glenore Grove. Looking forward, Hayley would love to continue teaching at the Grove and seeing students achieve their life outcomes successfully, in a safe and happy environment.




Alisha Nees - Classroom Teacher

Alisha has been a teacher since early 2021 and has taught a range of year levels, from grade 2 through to grade 6. She loves building meaningful connections with her students and creating a holistic, supportive classroom environment to foster genuine learning. Her passion is to work in the upper primary years with students in years 5 and 6. Alisha grew up in the Lockyer Valley, and she cherishes the community connections she has developed through working at Glenore Grove State School. She has a love of physical education, and is also passionate about behaviour management, intervention, and mathematics.

DLC and Specialist Teachers 


Sandra Calam - HOSES 

Sandra has been HOSES of our DLC Cluster of Schools since the beginning of 2016 and has worked in the area of Special Education since 2002.   Sandra is passionate about helping class teachers and support staff to meet the diverse learning needs of our students and to ensure all students and their families are welcomed and included at our school. 

 

Anne-Maree Drummond- Support Teacher Literacy and Numeracy 

Anne-Maree is an Experienced Senior Teacher who has worked for the Education Department since 1988, after graduating as a primary teacher with a major in early childhood.  She came to Glenore Grove State School in 2005 as a classroom teacher and took on the role of Support Teacher for Literacy and Numeracy in 2016. She believes that every child can be successful and feels privileged to be part of a team that supports students,  across all year levels, to achieve their learning goals.

 


Candice Cumerford - Special Education Teacher

Candice started teaching in 2015 and joined Glenore Grove in late 2022

as a Year 5/6 teacher, after beginning her career in the high school sector. She has taught for the past 7 years across all levels from P-12 but has a passion for working with young people in Years 5-7. Candice has experience in various roles including Year Level Coordinator, Youth Mentor, and Pedagogy Coach, but her most valued role is that of Classroom Teacher. She believes in building positive relationships with her students and providing a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment. She has a love of literacy and is particularly interested in behaviour management, intervention, and diverse learning.


  


Ahrani Vaheesan – Speech Therapist 

As a Speech Pathologist, Ahrani identifies and treats communication disorders including difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, writing, social skills, stuttering and using their voice. She also works with students who experience difficulties swallowing food and drinks.  Ahrani is passionate about supporting students to access and participate in the classroom curriculum. She works with students, their families and the staff at Glenore Grove to ensure students are able to achieve in education.

Teacher Aides 

Dawn Ebborn 

Dawn has been a teacher aide in the Lockyer Valley since 2012 and has been at Glenore Grove State School since 2015. Dawn has a Certificate IV in Education Support and has completed several courses to learn skills to support our students. Dawn works in the library on Mondays and Fridays occasionally also helping out with reading groups in the classroom. Dawn loves that she gets to see all the kids when they visit the library and enjoys working with the all staff at Glenore Grove. 

 


Michele Lyne  

Michele has been part of the Glenore Grove school community since 2003 and has worked at our school since 2007. She has worked in many areas of our school including prep classroom, small group literacy intervention programs, all year levels for literacy and numeracy, as well as the office. She loves her work with all students and their families. She loves seeing our students work on their strengths and to help them succeed.  She has been involved in our positive behaviour program since its inception and likes to challenge herself to learn new skills to enhance her own skills and sharing these skills and her passion for learning with our students.

Isabelle Redgrave  

Isabelle, also known as Isy, has been a teacher aide at GGSS since 2011.  She has a good teacher, student and staff relationship.  In her time at GGSS she has enrolled in many different courses to improve her knowledge of working with children.  Isabelle is also a qualified swim teacher.   She loves making the school a happy place for all. 


Michelle Norman
Michelle became part of the Glenore Grove school community when her three boys enrolled in the student body in 2016. She is an active contributor to the school community as the P&C president creating strong connections for the school vision. Holding an Advanced Diploma in Childrens’ Services Michelle joined the teaching staff as Teacher Assistant and occasionally School Admin support in 2019. Michelle thoroughly enjoys her time working with the students across all year levels supporting literacy and numeracy, developing reliable relationships to help build a safe and secure school community for all.


Marleis Formby

Marleis has been a Teacher Aide at Glenore Grove SS since 2021. She specialises in intervention group work and working with students one on one.  Marleis prides herself on seeing students succeed and knowing that she has made a difference in a student or teacher’s day.  ​
